Hubby is the real "chili cook" in our family. I do make some decent green chili and salsa, but red chili still escapes me.
He has qualified in his salsa, and also qualified for the "Last Chance Red Chili" cook off on Friday. If he places in the top 10 (or 20, depending on how many cooks there are), he'll qualify for the World's cook off in red chili on Sunday.
The cook off is October 10-12.
Yes, the championship cook offs have been featured on the Food Network over the years. I'm sure they will be there again this year.
Anytime you want to check out a local ICS cook off, just go the their website, click on the state you live, and it will show you where the cook offs will be and when. As I've mentioned in previous posts, each cook off benefits a charity, so not only will you be tasting some mighty fine chili, but the proceeds support good causes.
Gretchen, if you were in Denver for one more weekend, you'd be able to go to the cook off in Littleton (SW Denver) on October 19. We won't be at that one as it's the start of hunting season (at least for Hubby and family).
